Next Tuesday, September 13, is Primary Day for North Greenbush Democrats. Al Spain. a life-long Democrat has primaried his party because Dan Ashley and Charlie Smith, despite the fact they couldn’t find anyone else to run for Supervisor, refused to endorse Al. Whether it be out of jealousy, vindictiveness, or political one-upmanship, they wouldn’t endorse him. So, rather than have a qualified, experienced candidate, who do they endorse, Charlie Smith. Yep, the same Charlie Smith who has done more to blacken the reputation of the Town Democratic Committee than any other single person.
Yes, Al Spain has accepted the GOP and Conservative endorsements. He wants to be our Supervisor. And being the Democrat that he is, he wants to make sure that North Greenbush absolutely, has no chance of getting stuck with Charlie Smith. So, it’s vitally important that the enrolled Democrats show up on Primary Day and cast your votes for Al Spain. All of us who aren’t enrolled Dems wish we could join you.
My mind was easily made up this morning who I should vote for in the democratic primary for supervisor when I got my mail. I received a postcard in the mail from JOHN EADIE (the former president of DANA and huge proponent of the creation of the Village of Defreestville), urging me to vote for CB Smith. I thought this horrible nightmare was behind us. I cannot even consider for two seconds voting for anyone who has the support of any of the DANA. Even our current town supervisor had enough smarts not to seek public endorsements from the leaders of this group, and her husband was going to be the volunteer mayor!
Does Mr. Eadie even live in North Greenbush anymore? Will Mary Jo Nabywaniec come back from Cape Cod to support CB? Maybe Shelley Woodward will come out to publicly support CB. Hopefully she won’t threaten to rip off anyone’s face like she did on TV while speaking in opposition to the development of 4 & 43.
The economy is in shambles right now. Communities across the country are begging for development and jobs. Fortunately we are making slow progress in North Greenbush. However, anyone can look at that huge, empty, overgrown parking lot at the corner of 4&43 and thank John Eadie and DANA for it. If they had not kept holding up that project in the courts, we would have a very nice shopping complex there right now. It would be on the tax rolls paying school and property taxes. It would be generating much needed sales tax revenue for Rensselaer County. The former DANA leadership will be the first ones to complain when it is proposed to close a school, layoff state workers, close a state park, etc. But please rest assured, we may still have a white deer roaming around that area, thanks to John Eadie and DANA.
I’d like to express my sincere thanks to John Eadie for helping to make my decision on who to vote for in the democratic supervisor primary. I’ll be pulling the lever for Al Spain.
Could not have said it any better. I sure hope Al gets the vote out so these small minded individuals are kept in the closet where they belong.
It’s a very simple matter for me. If John Eadie and DANA are for it, I’m against it!

258 votes does not an election win! That’s not exactly indicative of the people having spolen. It must have been Jann’s robocalls for CB that got the folks out there. How many of those 258 will actually vote for Chucklehead in November?

So who is running against Smith? If Al is a dem then how in the world can Republicans support him? There is a reason why we have 2 parties and the ideology of those 2 parties are very different. So either the republicans in NG are a joke or Al is a republican, and if Al is a republican then why did he run as a democrat?
Lets just all agree that Republicans in NG are a joke and do not resemble or represent true Republicans, they are the classic RINO’s.

May I also suggest you brush up on your history of the two party system, you may be surprised to find that the first political party was the Democratic-Republican Party.
I for one am glad that the Republican Party in NG doesn’t “resemble or represent true republicans” because if it did they’d working for the party, instead we have a group who have affiliated themselves to a party but are SERVING the needs of the people, not the party they’re affiliated with.

True republicans work for the people. NG republicans ego’s only allow them to work for themselves. I grew up in NG and politics is pathetic. Small town people, not national government.
And there’s the difference! CB is all about PARTY. If you’re not a Dem you aren’t worth much. The other parties in town are about fairly representing the citizens. Leadership in the GOP and Conservs know enough to give their winners the reigns and let them run things. Ashley and Smith on the other hand try to orchestrate every move to please themselves and DANA. Good for Al running on the other lines. Who’d want to be associated with those two thugs any way? The only one to blame for this mess in North Greenbush is each and everyone of us who vote. We the people don’t control whats going on it is the political bosses that do. It has been the good old boy club that controls what is going on. When we do get someone in that is independant the good old boys get together and vote them out. Remember Germano, Panichi,Connoly,Spain,Fragomeni, Ashley, Smith they all worked together cut up the town and did their thing and we all stood around like good little sheep and didn’t say a thing.
I agree, noone is more prepared than Chuckie, the only problem being he only believes in his version of the truth.(which, for the most part isn’t, true that is). Dan Ashley and Chuckie have disgraced the town Democratic Party more than anyone in recent memory. Yo Dork-the only endorsement I ever took was from the party I was in. I interviewed for WFP-just like everyone else. WFP does not give its endorsement to anyone who accepts Ind. or Conservative lines normally. This year, I believe they made exception. As for not putting my name to my comments, it has nothing to do with me and everything to do with my family. As many already know, CB doesn’t restrict himself from attacking his opponents, he goes after family, friends, mothers, daughters, anybody is fair game to CB. I go toe to to with him any day he wants, but I won’t expose my family to his attacks.
Now that I’ve answered your questions, answer mine. Why is it you can run on several party lines but Al Spain can’t. Seems to me you and your party have a double standard, and people with double standards are not the type of people you want holding an elected office.
