As most of us know, North Greenbush is a great place to live, but comes with it’s own set of challenges. One of those challenges is that of finding qualified, dedicated and honorable people to run for public office. In a perfect world, each political party would have a waiting list of qualified candidates ready to step up to the plate. Apparently, the editorial staff of the TU don’t live or vote in North Greenbush. If they did, they would not consider Charlie Smith a choice for any rational humanbeing who knows him and his reputation. We do agree that ideally there would be candidates on the two major parties but for a Conservative or someone on the Independence line or WFP, cross-endorsements are the only way to have even a remote chance of winning.
Do the folks at the TU know that Charlie is running not because he’s so noble and idealistic but because he and Dan don’t have a load of people who want to be micro-managed by those two especially considering their sterling reputations. We heard even the County Chairman Tom Wade, was none too happy with Charlie endorsing himself to run for Supervisor. So if all this makes the TU feel all warm and fuzzy about North Greenbush having a choice in this election, someone should maybe clue them in to the fact that we may have a choice on paper, but realistically, there’s no choice at all. It’s Al Spain for Supervisor or North Greenbush will be flushed down the crapper.
Yeah let the people in NG only have a choice for one person…very democratic. Why even stop at that? Why not just appoint someone as Supreme ruler of NG?
If it’s someone other than the Constant Bitching and Dan Assley team – I’m all for it.

This is our joint opportunity to really show Constant Bitching and some of the others (Jann, Dan, Trish, Josh, Tricky Dick, Wannabe Mayor Eadie, and the other malcontents) how poorly respected their views are. CB hasn’t had his ass kicked in a general election since that farce when he attempted to run for County Exec. We’ve all been telling him to “put-up or shut-up” for years. so now he has.
There may be better choices out there than Al Spain, but they aren’t running. There’s been some things that Al’s done over the years that I don’t agree with (ChipFAB, for one!), however the choice in 2011 is now defined: Who will be better for North Greenbush? Al Spain or CB Smith?
In my mind, there is no “decision” to be made! Al Spain is a proven civil servant, capable of leading North Geenbush past this nonsense that has dogged us for too long. CB Smith has proven only his vindictiveness, his propensity for aligning himself with other low-life slime (isn’t it time for that psycho cartoonist to make his way back into the fray?), and his overall ability to destroy, and NOT build anythng!
It’s time for real Dem’s, Rep’s, Ind’s, Con’s, Libs, etc. to DROP the party line nonsense, DROP the “labels”, and vote for the BETTER of the two candidates. I prediict an Al Spain win, by 70%+, if we all get out there, and do the right thing!
Al and his supporters need to work to get the vote out.

Well said Tired of it all. This “if you belong to a party you can only vote for people running on that line stuff” is a big pile of BS! Al Spain is every bit as much a Dem as Chuckles likes to think he is. The difference, Al’s loyalty is to NG and those who live here, not the “party”. Let’s give Chip-fab a rest. That was back in the day when the Board (mostly Dems), were under the illusion that DANA had some muscle and spoke for the majority of residents. Now that that myth has been debunked, the Board has learned to listen to many different opinions and do what they feel is best. That’s why we put them there and that’s why we can take them out. Get out and vote people, support Al Spain and show Chuckles how little he is respected in NG.
